I haven't written a blog for awhile, but the changing climate of terrorism in the world has motivated me to reintroduce my novel "Arcana" which becomes more prescient as each day advances towards the final struggle between radical fundamentalists and those materialists who think they have the answers. Arcana by William James Johnson
Early in this new century our world will be devastated by an all out conflict between Israel and the Western world, brought about by the oil producing Arabs refusal to supply their much needed oil for the U.S. and EU countries unless the Palestinian situation is finally resolved. The Arabs demand the removal of the state of Israel and the return of all the land to the rightful owners.
The president of Israel meeting with his cabinet in secret, decides there will not be another holocaust even if it means the world must be brought to its knees. It is then that Arab oil in all countries of the Middle East are targeted by Jewish nuclear missiles. Radioactive sand in immense toxic clouds ascends to the stratosphere, to return in time to destroy all life in its path. All the countries in the prevailing west to east winds, slowly but surely pay the price of the age old conflict of the ownership of the promised land.
Since death by radiation is inevitable, even the leadership of the west becomes hardened by the uncontrollability of the behaviour of its doomed citizens. The time is right for a powerful law and order leader to take control of his people who are willing to give up some of their personal liberty in exchange for a return to a state of security. President David Koster, the first Jewish president of the United States is a world reknown behavioral modifier, who puts his formula for personal behaviour monitoring into place, resulting in a change of heart in his doomed citizens.
Viewing the success of his methods, Koster decides he can now make the great decision which will put the U.S. back in control of the other nations. He authorizes the production of the ultimate weapon, a neutron bomb, which destroys people but does not waste the land. His deputy announces at the UN they will be using the device in the destruction of 700 people on the Island of Rocas in the Pacific.
The night before Koster is to fly to Melanesia to witness the test, a large 100 foot vibrating blue sphere hovers outside the White House, and directs a humming ruby beam of energy at the President working in his upstairs study. His housekeeper rushes to his room to discover all that remains, is his foot prints burned into the carpet.
